THE NOUSFARER FIELD GUIDE
Quick Trial & Multiplayer
Take a shorter institute course, compete in a public match, or explore with an invited companion.
Nousfarer’s exploration journey and trials use the same institute learning system. Begin your voyage takes you from the ship to a destination of your choice. Quick Trial offers a shorter route directly into an institute. Multiplayer offers public competition and private cooperative exploration.
Quick Trial
If you arrive through a Quick Trial link, select a category and then an offered institute, and read the Expedition Briefing before entering. The main title screen starts the exploration journey; it does not offer a Quick Trial shortcut. The briefing introduces the subject and the selected course.
Solo Quick Trial uses a four-concept introductory route through content that has already been prepared. The available choices depend on ready courses and your recorded progress. Guest players use a default explorer.
Completing this short route is different from completing the full institute. You can return through exploration to study more of its curriculum.
Reach the Multiplayer Facilities
Earn three feathers from institute rewards to unlock the ship’s multiplayer facilities. Return to the Concordance Chamber, marked AFT 05 · OTHER MINDS, and choose Public Quick Match or Private Co-op.
Public Quick Match
Public Quick Match pairs two players for a best-of-three series: the first to win two rounds wins the match. Each round uses a shared institute course, with players taking turns choosing the category and framework. The standard round uses eight concepts.
Both players receive the same selected course in parallel versions of the institute. Public matches use prepared content; they do not ask you to generate a new course while playing. Available courses can change as the catalog and player progress change.
Private Exploration
Use the multiplayer panel to create a private session and share its invite code with the person you want to join. Private co-op lets you explore together. It is distinct from the public two-player competition.
Follow the panel’s sign-in and connection prompts. If no prepared course or opponent is available, check the displayed status rather than treating the wait as a new content-generation task.
Study Before Answering
Trials still involve reading concept material and answering quiz questions. The Sphinx’s reflection and retry rules apply here too. Read Articles & Quiz Trials before your first course, and Trust & Provenance for the limits of generated assessments.
